Aids and Adaptations

At Collins Building Solutions, we have specialised experience in installing aids and adaptations to enable elderly people or those with disabilities to access and utilise facilities both within buildings (for example, fitting walk-in/level-access showers in place of baths, and higher toilet bowls) and externally (such as installing wheelchair ramps and lifts, and installing grab rails). All adaptations are tailored to meet the individual requirements of those with special needs, enabling them to maximise their potential for independent living.

Wet Rooms

Wet rooms are an easy, adaptable and stylish solution for wheelchair users, and can be used by all members of the family. We have the full range of skills required, meaning we can carry out all building, plumbing and electrical work to the highest standard, ensuring a safe, secure and stylish finished room.

External Work

In addition to adapting your internal environment to encourage independent living, we can adapt external areas to ensure they are fully accessible, for example widening doorways and installing ramps.

It is now a legal requirement under the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) 1995 for businesses to make their facilities accessible; we can advise on DDA requirements, and work with you to ensure your premises are fully compliant.

We pride ourselves on offering a complementary range of skills that encompass the full process of installing aids and making adaptations. Many of our workers – and all our supervisors – are trained and time-served in multi-trades. Working as part of the team with the companies we service, our expert workers offer a high-quality finish to any DDA project.
